Vertical Phase Mixing across the Galactic Disk

چکیده

By combining the {\it LAMOST} and Gaia} data, we investigate vertical phase mixing across Galactic disk. Our results confirm existence of space snail shells (or spirals) from 6 to 12 kpc. We find that grouping stars by guiding radius ($R_{g}$), instead present ($R$) further enhances shell signal in following aspects: (1) clarity shape is increased; (2) more wraps can be seen; (3) spaces are less affected lack closer disk mid-plane due extinction; (4) amplified greater radial ranges. Compared $R$-based shell, quantitatively measured shapes similar, except $R_{g}$-based show with better contrast. These lines evidence lead conclusion (angular momentum) a fundamental parameter tracing Results our test particle simulations impulse approximation verify particles grouped according $R_{g}$ reveal well-defined sharper features. comparing profiles pitch angle between observation simulation, external perturbation constrained $\sim$500$-$700 Myr ago. For future study, it recommended use additional constraints on orbital hotness (ellipticity) improve snail.

Vertical distribution of Galactic disk stars ⋆

Nearly 400 Tycho-2 stars have been observed in a 720 square degree field in the direction of the North Galactic Pole with the high resolution echelle spectrograph ELODIE. Absolute magnitudes, effective temperatures, gravities and metallicities have been estimated, as well as distances and 3D velocities. Most of these stars are clump giants and span typical distances from 200 pc to 800 pc to the...

The vertical equilibrium of molecular gas in the galactic disk

We examine the vertical structure and equilibrium of the molecular gas layer in the galactic disk, measuring its scale height and velocity dispersion as a function of Galactic radius by modeling the CO emission at the tangent points. The model takes into account emission from a large path length along the line of sight, corresponding to an interval (∆R) of typically a few hundred parsecs in gal...

Vertical distribution of Galactic disk stars : ⋆ II . The surface mass density in the Galactic plane

High resolution spectra data of red clump stars towards the NGP have been obtained with the high resolution spectrograph Elodie at OHP for Tycho-2 selected stars. Combined with Hipparcos local analogues, we determine both the gravitational force law perpendicular to the Galactic plane, and the total surface mass density and thickness of the Galactic disk. The surface mass density of the Galacti...

The Vertical Distribution and Kinematics of HI and Mass Models of the Galactic Disk

We present full modelling of tangent point emission of HI as seen in the 21cm transition in the inner Galaxy. We measure the scale height and velocity dispersion of HI as a function of Galactic radius besides the rotation curve and the z-centroid of the atomic layer. The model used takes into account emission from a large path length along the line of sight, corresponding to an interval ( R) of...

Kinematics of Galactic Disk

The method of constructing of rotation curve for our galactic disk is developed. Simple physical model shows that the velocity of the Sun around the center of the Galaxy must be less than currently accepted IAU value 220 km/s. Independently obtained result for neutral hydrogen (λ = 21.1 cm) confirms the previous statement. The values of the Sun’s velocity is about 110 km/s. As a consequence, th...
